Provision of Free School Meals to all P1-P5 Pupils

The Scottish Government have introduced free school meals for all P1-P5 pupils.

School meals and healthy eating in Primary schools are delivered through the Scottish Executive's Hungry for Success initiative and The Schools (Health Promotion and Nutrition) Scotland Act 2007.

Careful selection of menu items has enabled us to continue to provide 2 daily hot choices from our traditional two course menu.

The Pic and Mix choice, now referred to as Option 3 includes hearty home made soup as well as a selection of hot and cold filled rolls/sandwiches and baguettes.

All three options are contained within the one menu and should assist parents and children when selecting their meal choice.

A daily vegetarian choice is indicated on the menu planner; soups are made using vegetable stock. Vegetarian alternatives can also be provided on days when meat options are available, i.e. quorn/vegetable curry, haggis, vegetable burger. Please contact your school kitchen for further information.

A daily bread basket, a selection of three salads and water are offered free to all pupils using the School Meal Lunch Service
